Every year, organizations around the country celebrate throughout the month with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events. According to the Center for Disease Control,1 in 68 children have been identified withautism spectrum disorder (ASD). Evidence suggests that the prevalence rate in North Carolina is even higher than the national average, at 1 in 58. ASD is more common thanchildhood cancer, cystic fibrosis, and multiple sclerosis combined, for a community-wide fundraising event that brings together consumers to help raise funds and awareness for ASD. All procedes are for the Haywood County School Foundation Exceptional Children’s department.  the Haywood County Schools Foundation‘s ECP (Exceptional Children’s Program)  provides specially designed instruction to ensure that all children with disabilities, ages 3 through 21, have available to them a free appropriate public education. The program emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living.
